In response to the passageway architecture of the museum’s gallery, "Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Pit #4, #9, #7" translates in one-to-one scale directly on to the museum wall, several tracings Calame has accumulated from the Speedway pits. The intricate drawing of tire marks left on the Speedway’s "diamond cut" concrete are remade here with the Rennaissance powdered-pigment pounce technique. In this installation, Calame invites the viewer to travel the space at a slower pace, inspecting the filigree information conveyed in the dusted, colorful patterns that result in an abstract and representational depiction of speed and movement.
