Examining artists’ books as a contemporary artform, this workshop offers entryways into the intimate expressions of Black life. By surveying the works’ materials, tools, and techniques, educators can use these books as a catalyst to generate lesson plans that illuminate the significance and importance of culturally relevant storytelling.

This event is facilitated by Sauda Mitchell, SCAD archives and special collections librarian, and Joël Díaz, director of the Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies.

Established by SCAD in 2011, SCAD MOA’s Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies celebrates the imaginative breadth and expressive legacy of African American art and literature.

RSVP by Tuesday, June 29, by emailing Joël Díaz, Evans Center director, at [email protected].
