Visitor guideline and policies
Checkroom
The museum requires visitors to check umbrellas, backpacks and bags before entering the galleries. The museum reserves the right to refuse other items and is not responsible for items held by the checkroom.
Mobility access
All galleries and facilities are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair access is available at the main museum entrance on Turner Boulevard. The museum has a wheelchair available for guest use and handicap-accessible parking is located in the west parking lot.
Sketching
Sketching, in pencil only, is permitted in galleries, and 22-inch x 36-inch drawing boards are available for checkout. Use of any medium other than pencil must be approved and supervised. While sketching, please do not block traffic flow through galleries.
Strollers
Standard strollers are permitted in the galleries. Oversized strollers are prohibited.
Cameras
Still photography for personal use is permitted in the museum. The use of flash or tripods is not allowed. Video is permitted in the museum with the exception of live video feed. No photographs or videotapes may be reproduced, distributed or sold without permission from the museum.
Cellular phones
The use of cellular phones is not permitted in the museum's galleries.
Food and drink
Outside food and drink are not permitted in the museum. Food and drinks from TAD café are permitted only in the café and the Alex Townsend Memorial Courtyard and may not be carried into the galleries, classrooms, theater or other areas.
Pets
Pets are prohibited except for service animals.
Security policy
All patrons entering SCAD performance venues are subject to search and may be screened by security staff. No large bags, purses or backpacks are permitted inside the venues, and small bags are subject to search. Firearms of any kind are prohibited on SCAD property. SCAD reserves the right to refuse items that may cause danger or disruption to the event or to other patrons. Any patron who declines to be searched or is in possession of prohibited items may be denied entry or ejected from the facility.
