Transform your life’s journey into a textile treasure during this hands-on workshop, inspired by the work of Sanford Biggers, renowned conceptual artist and SCAD deFINE ART 2021 honoree.
Docents take you on a tour of the museum’s textile collections and Sanford Biggers’ survey exhibition Contra/Diction, which speaks to the experiences and histories of Black Americans. Then, using an array of stitches and symbols, create an embroidery sample based on your own history. After the workshop, enjoy a delicious box dinner to take home.
Admission to the workshop is $10 and all skill levels are welcome. Materials are supplied.
To RSVP, contact Kristin Poitras, coordinator of museum visitation, at 912.525.7145 or [email protected].
