Twins Nikolai and Simon Haas (b. 1984, Austin, Texas) founded the Haas Brothers in Los Angeles in 2010. Early on, the brothers received accolades for their exceptional craftsmanship but have since evolved from fabricators and collaborators to nimble cross-pollinators in creative disciplines including fashion, film, art, and design. Their works explore aesthetic themes related to nature, science fiction, sexuality, and psychedelia, and are typified by the artists’ uniquely clever use of materials, ranging from brass, porcelain, and fur to highly technical resins and polyurethane.

The Haas Brothers are represented by renowned gallerist Marianne Boesky, who established her eponymous gallery in SoHo, New York, in 1996. Boesky supported the early careers of artists such as Lisa Yuskavage, Sarah Sze, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Barnaby Furnas, and has come to represent critically recognized artists including Donald Moffett, Jennifer Bartlett, and Serge Alain Nitegeka, and post-war giant Frank Stella.

This event is open to public. It is presented on the occasion of SCAD deFINE ART 2021, as part of the SCAD virtual series Guests and Gusto.
