Get one last look at Kenturah Davis’ Everything that Cannot Be Known, as you meet Joël Díaz, the SCAD Museum of Art’s new director of the Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies.
In larger-than-life-scaled work, Davis navigates the space between image and text, exploring the role of language in shaping how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Reworking photographs from fact to fiction, she uses mark-making processes, including her own handwriting and rubber letter stamps, to explore the impossibilities of representing Black bodies.
As director of SCAD MOA’s Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies, Díaz will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to develop programming that enhances public knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Black art and culture.
This in-person event is limited to 10 guests. The event will also be presented virtually.
