“The ability to read awoke inside of me some long dormant craving to be mentally alive.” — Malcolm X, The Autobiography of Malcolm X
A temporary showcase celebrating the expansion of the Walter O. Evans Collection, the SCAD Museum of Art grants visitors access to myriad books spanning comprehensive topics in African American studies. From contemporary art publications featuring artists who exhibit in the Walter and Linda Evans Gallery to foundational texts in Black diasporic theory, more than 130 new titles contribute deep scholarship to the intentional study of the Black experience. Enjoy light refreshments on the museum terrace, then peruse the collection before it relocates to Jen Library.
This event is free and open to the public.
