Join associate curator Ben Tollefson for an exclusive members-only tour of work by internationally celebrated artists Shoplifter and Gonzalo Hernandez (M.A. painting; M.F.A. fibers, 2019).
Shoplifter creates fanciful environments that immerse viewers through sight and touch. Her ultra-sensory, site-specific installation Chromo Zone consists entirely of plush neon synthetic hair, inviting viewers to experience joy and play.
In Hernandez’s multidisciplinary work, daily encounters with text, language, and material become fodder for symbolic interpretations. From relief sculpture formed by cardboard found on factory floors to iPhone photos of shopping lists quickly scribbled on his hand, the artist finds truth and meaning in the overlooked.
This in-person tour is limited to 10 guests. The tour will also be presented virtually.
