In honor of Black History Month, the SCAD Museum of Art’s Evans Center for African American Studies spotlights Virginia Jackson Kiah’s digital exhibition Live Your Vision with Deborah Johnson-Simon, Ph.D. An African American cultural anthropologist and founder of the African Diaspora Museology Institute (ADMI) and the Friends of Virginia Kiah, Johnson-Simon has dedicated years to preserving and documenting Kiah’s life and work. Kiah created a legacy in Savannah as an artist, educator, and advocate. She opened the city’s first African American-founded museum as an act of dedication to educating the public. The namesake of Kiah Hall, she was a beloved member of the SCAD community, receiving an honorary SCAD doctorate degree and serving as a board member for more than a decade.

This event is free and open to the public. RSVP to [email protected]. RSVP is encouraged but not required.
