Workshop: Create a textile painting inspired by Nengi Omuku's works with SCAD alum Jae Daisy

Join the Walter and Linda Evans Center for African American Studies for an exploratory study of Nengi Omuku’s powerful exhibition There We Sat Down. The evening begins with a curator-led tour of Omuku’s expressive celestial landscapes. While immersed in her vivid scenes evoking themes of horticulture and creation, learn more about Omuku’s practice from SCAD Museum of Art curator Ben Tollefson.

Following the tour, apply your fresh knowledge to your own fabric painting inspired by personal experiences and introspections with SCAD alum Jae Daisy (M.A., painting, 2021; B.F.A., fibers, 2019). In this step-by-step workshop, you’ll showcase your creativity and explore themes within your own identity.

Daisy is an artist, designer, and teacher working in portraiture, textiles, and murals. Her abundant use of color reflects how she sees the world and the people that inspire the subjects she paints. Fueled by a bountiful imagination and the power of music, her work invites viewers into a fourth dimension of self-expression.
