Materials, silhouettes, textures and details in Dresbach’s historically accurate work reflect this novel environment, and express how settlers and indigenous people adapted styles of dress due to the merging of cultures. "The New World: 'Outlander' Season Four" presents these costumes within a dramatic installation with cinematic and sculptural elements to complement the early American landscape. This marks SCAD Museum of Art’s first costume exhibition and is presented in collaboration with the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where the season four premiere will screen in advance of its broadcast debut.
Dresbach has received numerous accolades for her costume designs for "Outlander," including an Emmy Award nomination in 2016 for Outstanding Period Costumes, and a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination in 2016 for Outstanding Period Television Series. Dresbach won an Emmy Award and Costume Designers Guild Award for the series "Carnivàle" in 2004.
SCAD Museum of Art members and SCAD students will have an exclusive opportunity to preview the exhibition at a VIP reception from 4:30–6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28. Both museum members and students must register in advance for the event online to obtain a ticket.
