Explore legendary Modernist art through the work of Marcel Dzama on members’ tour

Join SCAD MOA associate curator Ben Tollefson for an exclusive members-only film screening and tour of the exhibition An End to the End Times, which surveys work by artist Marcel Dzama from the past 20 years. Tollefson will discuss the artist’s influences, including Modernist movements like the Bauhaus School, Surrealism, and Dada. Visitors will also view clips of Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet, an important influence on Dzama’s practice.

Practice printmaking techniques at workshop and roundtable for high school educators

In conjunction with the exhibition Deliberate Risks: Prints by Helen Frankenthaler, on view through July 11, SCAD MOA invites local high school educators to a printmaking workshop and roundtable discussion. Discover Frankenthaler’s work and contemporary mixed-media approaches during demos of fundamental printmaking techniques.

Deliberate Risks presents recent acquisitions of work by Frankenthaler, including 10 prints and four artist’s proofs, gifted to the museum by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation as a part of its Frankenthaler Prints Initiative.

Kick off SCAD deFINE ART 2021 at this virtual opening reception and gallery walkthrough with hosts Kayli Carter (B.F.A., performing arts, 2015) and Mojo (B.F.A., sequential art, 2015). The SCAD grads will premiere new exhibitions at the SCAD Museum of Art, offering exclusive views of work by renowned artists, including SCAD deFINE ART 2021 honoree Sanford Biggers.

Comedian Amy Sedaris leads an eclectic conversation on the work of artist Marcel Dzama, kicking off SCAD deFINE ART 2021. The artist’s son interviews Sedaris, who plays the role of Dzama. After the dialogue, Dzama joins associate curator Ben Tollefson to premiere the artist’s exhibition An End to the End Times at the SCAD Museum of Art, followed by a Q&A.
